If you visit one of the many gay shopping websites or stop into your local gay retail shop, you're bound to find a copy of the immensely popular gay dance CD compilation series Let's Hear It For The Boy , as well as its offshoots Let's Hear It For The 80s , Let's Hear It For The 70s , Circuit Boy and Trance Heaven . These energetic CDs have been providing the soundtrack for the lives of many fans of gay dance music for the past few years. The Let's Hear It… series feature non-stop high energy dance versions of today's biggest hits with a gay slant (Madonna – yes / Limp Bizkit – no) sprinkled with gay classics from the 70s and 80s. Combine great high energy dance music with a sexy cover boy and you've got the basis of the special appeal of the Let's Hear It… series among gay dance music fans. The music comes courtesy of legendary Italian dance music producers Mauro Farina & Factory Team who have enjoyed numerous international dance hits over the past several years, including one of the biggest worldwide hits of the 90s – “What's Up” by DJ Miko. A few years ago, Farina teamed with Megahit Records' owner Jeff Johnson (former co-owner of the Grammy-winning Interhit Records) with the goal of producing dance compilations targeted to the gay market to be released through Farina's Italian record company SAIFAM. Johnson's placement of the Factory Team-produced dance version of the 80s hit “Let's Hear It For The Boy” (performed by Katty B.) in the premiere episode of Queer As Folk in 2001 sparked the idea for the Let's Hear It For The Boy series which came to life with the release of Vol. 1 later that year. Vol. 2 followed in 2002 and 2003 brought Vol. 3, as well as Let's Hear It For The 80s Vol. 1 , Circuit Boy Vol. 1 , Trance Heaven Vol. 1 and Let's Hear It For The 70s Vol. 1 . Farina and Johnson serve as Executive Producers on all of these compilations, which are released initially in Italy on SAIFAM's Atlantis label and then imported into the USA by Megahit Records. The unique combination of Farina and Johnson's creative talents has resulted in great success for the Let's Hear It… series, as well as Circuit Boy and Trance Heaven . With more great dance music to come, Farina and Johnson are looking to reach new heights in 2004 and beyond. |
